More on Metaphor

Metaphors can be very consistent in English. For example, the idea that anger is related to heat produces the following series of metaphors: She blew her top. She's a hothead. He made my blood boil. He got all steamed up. He exploded. He blew off steam. Her temper flared up. Her eyes smouldered with rage. He has a fiery temper.

It is also fun to realize that we are creating new metaphors and similes all the time. Here are a few new similes that I have created for this exercise. See if you can match them. If you get a couple wrong, just change them.
